About us

SRSL began trading in 2002 as part of the SAMS Group (Scottish Association for Marine Science, est. 1884), based at the Scottish Marine Institute in Oban.

We have built a reputation on delivering independent and high-quality marine environmental survey and consultancy services, underpinned by cutting-edge research. Our mission is to facilitate the sustainable development of marine renewable energy generation in Scotland through world-class environmental surveying, sampling, monitoring and analysis.

Baseline Survey and Environmental Impact Assessment services are core business areas for SRSL. In these assessments, we can combine the Biological, Coastal processes and Metocean requirements of an EIA and offer additional expertise by way of modelling capabilities and long term technological solutions.

Our staff are key to our success; most our employees are qualified to PhD level and above. SRSL staff are experienced in managing the risks associated with working in challenging marine environments.

Our size and location allows us to be responsive and flexible to clients' needs and time pressures, whilst our capacity for synergy and collaboration across the marine sciences allows us to gain a sharper synoptic view than any single-discipline organisation can achieve.
